About The Travelling Paige

Welcome to the ‘Travelling Paige’
My name is Paige, I’m 28 from England. I am a registered nurse by background but in October 2025 I swapped the chaos of prison nursing for the streets of New Delhi, India – to start backpacking. That’s right, I started this trip in India – that being the first time I have ever backpacked or visited Asia. Some may say I am mad and I know I got a fair few ‘in at the deep end’ references, but you’ll have to wait for the blog on New Delhi to see how that went. Anyway, back to the introduction. When I say ‘I’, I’m actually referring to ‘we’ as I am accompanied by my boyfriend – George. My hat goes off to all those solo travellers (especially female) around the world. George is currently sat next to me laughing at starting this blog with ‘hello world’. So it may well be a solo travel blog soon….
We both quit our jobs with the idea of backpacking for as long as we had money or as long as we had the desire to keep going. So far, the desire is lasting longer than the funds. Since starting in October we have visited nine different counties, starting in India, making our way across Asia and are now in Australia.
I am confident that most people that know me or even go on to meet me will recognise me as a type A person through and through. I love to organise; plan and the thought of some organised fun is my idea of a perfect weekend. This has worked out conveniently for my boyfriend as he is just along for the ride as a full-time travel princess. His only real responsibilities lie in carrying my 50L bag when I can’t be bothered (a lot) and recording everything we spend. Maybe slightly through my own inability to trust another’s persons planning but I would say I am pretty good at researching and planning our travels.
To capture our travels so far, we have kept a daily blog on something called Polar Steps (would recommend to everyone travelling anywhere) and have really enjoyed documenting the journey. So, with these two things combined I thought why not make it official and make my own public travel blog. I hope this will give back to anyone wanting to travel to similar places, as I know I love reading peoples travel blogs to plan my adventures.
So, I am not sure exactly what this blog will encompass but we love an off the beaten track location/itinerary. You’ll see a lot of ‘6am alarm to beat the crowds’ as the idea of hitting major sites with everyone else is our worst nightmare. We are also both ethical and environmentally conscious travellers (despite the airmiles racked up since travelling), so you won’t see any elephant sanctuary recommendations here but hopefully some tips on how to appreciate the amazing cultures around the world. Now in our late twenties, we’re not exactly “budget backpackers” – more somewhere in the middle. We’re happy to save on certain things, but never at the expense of experiences. I’ll admit I’ve probably said “come on, let’s treat ourselves” a few too many times on this trip… which may explain why we’re currently over budget. So this blog will share a mix of different budgets.
Back at home in the UK we love the great outdoors; hiking and wild swimming. We are both also big foodies, particularly Asian cuisine so a lot of our suggestions will be centred around these two daily activities.
But I have not made this blog exclusively for our backpacking trip that started last year, as I want to also include some of my adventures before travelling, from within the UK and across Europe. So hopefully this blog can stay with me even when we inevitably go back to the UK.
I hope you enjoy reading my blogs,
Please engage, share with your friends and contact me!
